Fran..Great post and of course excellent photography. Even though I wasn't able to attend, I too enjoyed the very creative signs..so many passengers packed on my Trimet bus all with strong messages and purpose to stand up..fight. RESIST! Feeling the outrage over our current administration...keep up the momentum USA.

As I wrote, two buses passed before I was able to board. I was prepared to take the 14 the other direction and connect with light rail, but in the end I didn’t have to do that. You did your part by ferrying protesters!

Thanks Fran - I love your photos and reporting on the event! There was so much creativity in the signs and the crowd was amazing. I had hoped that one of the news outlets would get an aerial shot to help with an estimate of the size. Love our Portlanders!

There was a TV news crew shooting the crowd from the parking garage. Didn’t hear any helicopters.

Great photos and I’m glad you got to go. They will need to be frequent and ongoing.

I was there too. Needed to be. Ran into Tim and Joan Jewett. Hadn’t seen them in years.

Thx for this, Fran. I couldn't make it to portland but followed my friends in Seattle. The various signs were wonderful. One I really liked said, "if she had won I'd be at brunch today".

I ended up going out to Sandy and it wasn't so big ~ but probably 150 or so ~ but it was wonderful. Lots of cars honking, people waving, giving us the high sign. Energizing and inspiring me for more.

There was a Hands Off! protest in Carson City that I thought of attending, but we got involved in other things. Driving southward, we came to Walker, CA, a tiny town just over the border from where we live. There were two old guys sitting in lawn chairs by the side of the road, holding signs. They looked like they could've been MAGA, and we rushed by so quickly, I couldn't read most of the words. Just WE THE PEOPLE. So, I'm going to give them the benefit of a doubt that they wanted to participate in this huge event. Everybody, even MAGA, is affected by Trump and Musk. People are slowly coming around to realizing what's happening to our country. Swastika's indeed.

This is great Fran. You really do good work without camera and those words of yours. I was there too and it was a great experience.
