Wonderful synopsis of line 30 Fran. Urban industrial sprawl has made the westerly section less appealing these days. Glad you made the journey. I did drive that route one icy winter in the dark. Talk about stress!!
My all time favorite route is the 63, which travels up through Washington Park, the Rose Garden and Japanese Garden. I call it the "happy bus"because most of the ridership are tourists ;-) I'm also quite fond of line 16 because driving over the St John's Bridge 16 times a day is nothing more than delightful!
I thoroughly enjoyed the World Series too and game 7 was thrilling. Game 3 was also epic with the 18 inning marathon. It was the longest in WS history at 6hr 39min. Whenever I watch baseball my father is with me in spirit. He was a devoted White Sox fan and I recall many times seeing him listening to baseball on his transistor radio with one cord ear plug.
I enjoyed your ride on the 30 bus, through the farmlands and small towns. Sounds luscious, even if the leaf colors were past peak.
The piccadillos sound a bit pointless and possibly harbor unintended consequences. Smashing a few chips in the bottom of the bag doesn't even affect the corporate system but will undoubtedly cheat the person who buys that package of chips. BTW, corporations are the only ones who develop systems. That beautiful bus ride is part of a system that benefits the community. Such tiny acts of devilment are really kind of silly and basically unproductive. Sorry, not impressed.
Sue, I probably didn’t explain it well. I invite you to read the original posting, following the link in the text.
Peccadillos aren’t pointless. They are small sins and we all have them. Joy makes a distinction between small villainies, as she calls them, and guilty pleasures.
I say, let universe laugh a little. Celebrate small acts of resistance. There’s plenty of time to fall in line later.
I'd rather commit acts of positive reinforcement and aid to those in need. For instance, I got a kick out of teaching ESL at the library even though the state of California didn't support it. Your friend's little acts of resistance don't even reach the people they are intended for. Perhaps she needs to think real hard and do something positive. It's that vinegar vs. honey thing.
Thank you for the brilliant post. I especially liked your thoughts about the present and past meaning of six and seven.

Wow, Carrie, you really get around! So far, 16 is my favorite route. I haven’t done the Sauvie Island leg yet.
I haven’t been on the 63. Thanks for the tip.
I still can’t believe they named 67 as word of the year!
