I enjoyed the post, as always, and I like seeing the recipes. But I especially enjoy the poetic fragments, tidbits, and poems entire. I appreciate the comment about posing questions. Loneliness is really complicated and so easily overlooked and, maybe, misunderstood. Love the one shoe photo you included.

David is right, of course. The researchers were from OSU and the berry was named after Marion County, where it was field-tested. Somehow, the bentonberry doesn’t have the same ring to it.

Oregon State University is not in Marion County but in Benton County, which therefore sends much more solid Democrats to the legislature than Marion County. It’s also a fitting tribute to Sen. Thomas Hart Benton of Missouri, the great advocate of the West.
