I too have a growing mountain to be read of recently purchased books. Back and forth between kindle, book, and substack and of course the weekly local paper for a community I feel less and less involved in these days. It's really nice the weather's warming up now and I can retreat to the lawn swing, lay my head back, and soak up some sun.
Sounds delicious. My sister and her wife are here from Ireland, and they helped me unpack all my books as Robert has injured his arms and can’t lift things. It was a godsend, and now I am surrounded by dozens of books I can’t possibly read. Scores of books. Maybe hundreds of books. And then there are the ones from the library that I have to read soon so I can return them. I just read a really good novel that I am reviewing for Oregon ArtsWatch. It’s called Sleeping Giants and is by Rene Denfeld.
Sounds like a trip (or several) to your favorite thrift store(s) is in order. The library in Carson City has a separate house across the street from it the sells donated books. There's even a "book beast" drop box for after-hours donations. Now that's a library that seriously wants to circulate books around the area in a positive way. Rather than a crowded once or twice a years book sale, they do it every day.
I don’t have the heart or the time to sell them. Here in Portland we have hundreds of Little Libraries, including several in my neighborhood. Deposit free books there, and folks take them. If they turn around and sell them at Powell’s, well, okay.
