Synchronicity indeed. I wrangled with my newest post, filling a bucket of blood, sweat, and tears. I finally managed to plunge a dagger into it and see what I was really trying to say. Thank you for this, Fran. If Substack as given me anything, it's practice in dragging my ugly babies to the trash bin.
The one saving grace of killing bad prose is that it gets easier with practice. Even before my chief (and only) editor and critic, husband Robert, gets a crack at my draft, I’ve deleted swaths of infelicitous writing.
Then it’s time to trim the little toenails, the extra words, mostly adjectives and adverbs, that clutter the flow of thought.
I enjoyed reading this post, and your Time Warp poem, as the year turns. These are wonderful stories of synchronicity. Thank you for mentioning my recent post. I hope you have a peaceful birthday … forward-looking.

Tighten your writing.
Keep the words trim.
Short, pithy phrases,
Don’t let the thoughts dim.
Your words are a kite,
Let out the string.
See them sail on the wind—
Their play is the thing.

I left a comment on your post before I saw this one. So ignore the part about mentioning you. And thanx for reading.
We had an early New Year’s Eve party here in assisted living. I tried to dance with Robert, but my feet wouldn't move very well.
But the intention and the memory I’m sure were there. I am glad you celebrated. Happy New Year and happy birthday!
Synchronicity corner: Thanks for the memories!
