I love the red ladder photo, and the reflection in the water glasses is amazing. The Starbucks book sounds like an interesting story!

In California and the Southwest, "Mexican" food isn't a foreign cuisine. It's just food. And throwing a bag of tortillas in your cart along with eggs, tomatoes, peppers, whatever ... peanut butter for pete's sake will become several different "simple" meals.

"Cilantro Taste Aversion" is what 23andme calls it, and it doesn't seem as if you can work your way out of it. They claim there are "two genetic markers associated with this aversion." That's if you trust 23and me...

In the mid-90s, before he was murdered by his wife, Chef Dan Brophy at the Culinary Institute and I had a conversation about cilantro. That's when I was working in FoodDay. I remember him saying that he was training himself to like cilantro. That sounded like a good idea so I tried it, and I can tolerate it now. I still don't like it much.
