Your experience with Spirit interests me. I too have experienced feelings of dread or delight depending on the people around me or the place. Some places are creepy indeed. I talk about this in one of my October essays. I've also met people that have given me a first impression of deepest dread. One turned out to be the roommate from Hell. The other was indeed from Hell: a serial killer named Ted Bundy. And then there are people and places that just give me the warm fuzzies. It's all in the vibes of the Spirit within and without.
I was hoping to hear from others who intuit “dread or delight.” What surprised me about the incident in the 80s, when I was in my 30s, is that I wasn’t particularly tuned in to other people then. I’ve had to work on learning to connect. But I still had that incredible experience.
It's become a vague memory. Perhaps that's because our lockdown was sort of sporatic. Lot's o stores made themselves "essential:" hardware, garden, drug and grocery. Even a woman at a new western clothing stores bought a lot of TP (aha! that's where it all went) and made her store essential. Also, a knitter friend made masks to sell at a gift shop she worked. Our knitting store sold yarn through a crack in the door. Grub Hub and curbside delivery kept a lot of places open. It was a time for creativity and those who hid behind rules and regs failed.
Meanwhile, students didn't miss a year of "development," only that which the schools expected. The kids were home with mom and dad, getting acquainted, learning by doing, making, innovating with various projects. Sure, they missed their friends and maybe their teachers, but they didn't miss development.
Kids from stable homes with involved parents did fine. Kids who relied on free breakfast and lunch and the stability of a classroom did less well. Maybe there were books in the home; more likely a TV.
Great pics as usual. Love the carts. They remind me of the series from Terrible Real Estate Agent Photographs called “The Garden Chair of Solitude”.
