A delightful mix of content in your final post of the year., Fran. Interesting that this past year, which in my eyes was so full of political drama, wars and human suffering... is not reflected in this or others posts. I too enjoyed reading through your list of 75 Things, perhaps I'll be inspired to create my own list but it will by necessity be longer! It's a pleasure to open your posts week after week!
I think it's a good thing that not everyone has to pile on the political commentary. There are Substacks that do that well. I am going to say a few things just before the inauguration.
Thanks for liking the 75 things list. It was fun to write!
You've inspired me AGAIN, Fran. I copied your list of 75 Things to do Before 75. Maybe you've seen similar (shorter) lists on FB. Can't resist the urge to make a note of the ones I fulfilled. Silly but fun. And this list is EPIC. Lots of memories, but just notes about them for later stories with more details. Can always used such inspiration. Also, you must've read my mind because your "buy nothing for a month" was my only resolution for 2025. I want to see how long I can restrain my "buy now" finger. I have enough of everything ... which leads to another 2025 activity. Clear the house. Pick a drawer, closet, or shelf and do the keep/thrift store/throw away routine. Thanks again for another great post. Happy New Year.
And thanks, Sue, for another great comment! Think of the list as one big prompt. Sadly, I never got it together enough to try sailing or, as you did, skiing, except that I did one afternoon of x-country before deciding it was not for me.
Oh this list did become a really good prompt. I'm debating whether or not to share. The responses turned into essays of their own. My goodness, we old people have a lot to say and I'm thankful for Substack for providing the platform. Happy birthday, tomorrow. Got any special plans?
Cheers to you, Fran!
Happy early birthday, Fran! This is a wonderful list. I love knowing you tended a list … I hope there are new lists to be made, too.
ha ha ha. I'm going to write soon about how useless lists are. but we all love them, don't we.
The paradox of so many things, right? Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!

Love the multiple "to read" piles. THIS is the solution to my one daunting, taunting, teetering stack!
And the 🤩 poems. Happy early birthday wishes.
I just went to the library and brought home MORE books. I must be a nutcase.
